After closing her restaurant over the winter, Melody Bowers is happy to invite members of the Lake Anna community and visitors back to Tavern on the Rail.
“I wanted to kinda redecorate and refocus the business, so closing temporarily was the best option to give me time to do what needed to be done,” Bowers told L&T.
Tavern is now back open for dinner Saturdays from 5-9 pm and lunch Friday and Saturday 11 am to 2:30 pm. The latter refocused around the new Tavern deli.
Event brunches will be held in Bower’s beautiful Back 40 event barn venue and upstairs in the restaurant on Sundays.
The downstairs will now be a whiskey and cigar bar.
The upstairs, essentially a restored general store will be open for the lunch and dinner with the addition of a new gift shop area open 9-5 Friday and Saturdays.
Tavern on the Rail is housed in a Nationally Registered Historic Landmark building built in 1837 that once served as a country store and train station lovingly restored by Bowers.
Tavern on the Rail is located at 81 Tavern Road, Mineral, a short drive from most of the lake near the lower end of Lake Anna. For more information go to www.tavernontherail.com.
