Long time Lake Anna resident, Christopher C. McCotter was elected Louisa County Supervisor for Cuckoo District and sworn in January 2.

McCotter ran unopposed in Cuckoo District, an area that spans much of the lower end of the lake (up to Contrary Creek), Fredericks Hall, Cuckoo and Apple Grove. There are just over 4,000 registered voters in the District with three voting places: the Masonic Temple on Rt. 33, Rising Sun Baptist Church on Fredericks Hall Rd. and Elk Creek Baptist Church on Kentucky Springs Rd.

He replaced Willie Gentry, who served 20 years as Cuckook District Supervisor and decided not to run again in 2023.

McCotter’s family has been at the lake since 1985. He currently resides in the family home built in 1987 near the dam. He was a founding member of the Lake Anna Civic Association, the Lake Anna Business Partnership and serves on the Lake Anna Advisory Committee. He operates several business on the lake including Lake Anna Life Publishing, Lake Anna Outfitters and McCotter’s Lake Anna Guide Service.

“I am humbled by this opportunity and thank God to serve this community that I love. The Cuckoo District is diverse and dynamic; from heritage farms to big tech. We have the lake, North Anna, the new AWS Lake Anna Technology Campus and plenty of land speculation going on along Kentucky Springs Rd. that make this an exciting time to try and balance out the needs of all citizens,” McCotter told Life & Times. “I’ll listen to all constituents’ concerns to represent consensus views when possible and do what’s best for Louisa and our community.”

McCotter re-appointed George Goodwin Planning Commissioner for Cuckook District.

“George Goodwin is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to land planning and Louisa County. Reappointing him to Planning Commission makes sense as his years of service as a community leader and vast experience will continue to be assets to our citizens. I am looking forward to listening to his keen analysis of zoning and planning and thank him for his dedication to Louisa County.
