Louisa Clean, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to make Louisa County the cleanest county in Virginia, is hosting a second “Big Clean” event on October 19 and 20. This event is being held in cooperation with the Louisa County Board of Supervisors, the Louisa County Sheriff’s office, and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
During this event Louisa Clean is asking those who have adopted sections of Louisa County roads through VDOT to clean that section of roadway and asking residents and businesses in the county to clean the roadways in front of their home or business.
Louisa Clean plans to clean Fredericks Hall Road, Bumpass Road, and Byrd’s Mill Road during the event and asks anyone who would like to volunteer in this effort contact them at LouisaClean2022@gmail.com.
All volunteers who contact Louisa Clean to coordinate will receive a Louisa Clean t-shirt for their effort.
Louisa Clean and Louisa County Public School will also work together on Kindness Day/October 9 to organize a student-staffed road clean-up. Over 200 students at Louisa County High Schools will participate in an event aimed at breaking the cycle of littering.
Louisa Clean recently was awarded a $10,000 grant from the ChangeX organization AWS fund for the “Adopt Louisa: Cleanest County” initiative. This funding will go toward expandig the Louisa Clean volunteerism in the county and to encourage volunteerism for the “Big Clean” event in October, the purchase of trash pickup items to include hats, t-shirts, safety vests, grabbers, gloves, bags and signs as well as a volunteer appreciation event to be held in 2025.
