Boat, RV and general storage space appears to be in demand around the Lake Anna area as Louisa County has received two applications for such facilities in addition to one approved in May near Wares Crossroads.

According to Louisa County Mid Atlantic Watersports and Mid Atlantic Dock Builders agent Steve Harler has met with Community Development to develop a 5.29 acre parcel along and just off Kentucky Spring Road adjoining Amy’s Boat & RV Storage. The property is currently zoned Light Commercial (C1) and such a facility would be a by-right use.

Harler and his partners are exploring several options for the property to include a storage facility and a repair shop.

Another storage facility is planned for 3.316-acres adjoining the Dollar General Store located on Haley Road near the intersection with Kentucky Springs Road.

Grayson Johnson, a real estate agent for Home Town Realty is the representative for this property according to Louisa County records. The plan noted in county documentation for the parcel is for an indoor storage/mini-warehouse with at least 100 units.

“This will be the first storage facility that will go through the façade requirement. It will have brick front and landscaping. It will probably be the nicest looking storage facility in Louisa County,” Louisa County Deputy Director of Community Development Tom Egeland, Jr. told Life & Times.

In May Doug and Kristen Barmoy received approval to rezone 7.714 acres near Wares Crossroads (Rt. 522 and 208) from Agricultural A-2 to General Commercial (C-2) for their plan to create a similar storage facility. The couple also noted they had other by right options for the property.

Egeland also told Lake Anna Life & Times the final site plan for Lake Anna Resort (Lake Anna PUD) had been approved by Louisa County planners.

The site for this project is on off Rt. 208 just before the 208 bridge on Mitchell Creek. It will include a hotel, condominiums, restaurant, pool and commercial/retail space along with boat slips for guests.
