The Lake Anna community will welcome another dollar store – it’s sixth in 2024. After several months of speculation it does appear that Dollar General has submitted a site plan to Spotsylvania planning for a store to be placed on a 26-acre parcel of land at the southeast corner of the intersection of 522 and Monrovia Rd.  The property, parcel 53-1-2, is zoned Resort Commercial and Resort Agricultural, which means that all that is required from the developer to move forward is to gain approval for the site plan.

Life & Times reached out to Livingston District Spotsylvania Supervisor Jacob Lane for comment on the new retailer.

“I understand everybody wants another nearby option if you have to run out for milk or eggs, however, the feedback I’ve received hasn’t been all that postive.”
Life & Times also contacted Amber Groome about speculation that a restaurant could be opening on property she owns along Kentucky Springs Road, just past Pine Harbor subdivision. Groome confirmed that she and her father-in-law, Wayne Groome plan on opening a steakhouse on two lots they own and call it Pop’s Bar & Grill. Additional outside areas will offer cornhole, horseshoe pits and a performance area for bands

“We hope to build a 50-60 seat restaurant and bar that opens at 5 am for breakfast and is open until 10 pm for dinner.”

Groome told Life & Times the plan is to be open summer 2025 and in the meantime she is working on setting up her Not Your Mama’s food truck on the property for breakfast and lunch.

Groome has been operating her popular food truck in the area for the past two years. She has worked in the restaurant business since she was 13.
