The Lake Anna Business Partnership (LABP) held one of its famous ribbon-cutting ceremonies May 18 at the new Lake Anna Outfitters, officially marking the grand opening of the lake’s newest retail store.

“We love working with our member businesses, to promote them and support them. A ribbon-cutting is an important ceremony for a new business, and we love doing them,” LABP Vice President Ronda Guill told Lake Anna Life & Times.

LABP Board members and members at large arrived at 9:30 to support Chris and Chrissie McCotter’s new store at Anna Point Marina. Donuts from The Mad Batter and donut holes from Coyote Hole Ciderworks awaited them along with a new store full of apparel, gifts, drinkware, decorative items, sunglasses, sandals, dresses, souvenirs, kayaks, paddleboards and more.

“We were so grateful for The Partnership’s support. We do business with so many of the members it’s really like a big Lake Anna family/support group,” noted Chrissie McCotter.

The McCotter’s operated Lake Anna Outfitters for 15 years out of a 16×20 building at High Point Marina before opening the new 1,100 sq. ft. shop next door at the Anna Point complex.

“We have so much more room and so many more product lines. It was hard work getting the building ready to be a retail shop this winter but so far we’ve been blessed with local support as the tourism season is about to heat up,” noted McCotter.

The shop sells brands like Mudpie (dresses), Unsalted Coast, Freshwater Crew, Lake Dog Clothing Co., LKA™, Buddy By The Lake, Costa Del Mar (sunglasses), Sili Pint (drinkware), Pironi (drinkware), FloJo (sandals), Feel Free (kayaks), Tahi (paddleboards) and more.

In addition to the retail side of the business, Lake Anna Outfitters operates the Lake Anna Paddling Center with kayaks, paddleboard and canoes for rent. Visitors can explore the Lake Anna Water Trail that begins at their launch and follows along the undeveloped shore of Lake Anna State Park (Kayakers’ Beach and Skinny Dippers’ Cove) as well as takes a turn over to Lake Anna Taphouse before circling back to Anna Point.

The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday 10-4 most weeks. Rentals are available by online reservation on their website www.lakeannaoutfitters.com.

“We are so grateful to everyone that has supported us all these years. Special thanks to the Wood family for helping us get started in the beginning and all our friends in LABP around the lake. You are all appreciated,” said McCotter.
