If you have been looking for a contractor to do a medium to small job at the lake for the past 24 months you may not have been successful or had to look very hard. Many contractors have focused on larger home construction or spec homes or just worked for other home building companies busy building Lake Anna’s new community of $1.5 million homes.
One couple that saw opportunity in the current market conditions has specialized in smaller contracting jobs and welcomes your call.
Bill and Lisa Nunley have owned a home at the lake for 15 years after first discovering it in 1982.
“For years we tried to figure out how to move here full time but it wasn’t until I retired from the Post Office in 2021 that we did,” Lisa told Life & Times.
The Nunleys then said goodbye to Laurel, Maryland and became full time LKAers, hoping to establish themselves as community small job contractors.
Bill was in comercial construction for many years and then switched over to doing home improvements in Maryland, so he was curious if he could continue the same work at the lake.
“Our bread and butter is home repairs – kitchens and bathrooms,” Lisa told L&T. “Bill and I found a lot of this type of work was available at the lake and we’ve been busy ever since we moved down.”
Many lake realtors call the Nunleys to get their client’s homes ready for sale or their rentals repaired after the busy summer season.
Other jobs they do include refinishing basements, creating rooms over garages, window and door replacement, toilet replacements and other general home repairs (excluding roof work). Bill holds a Virginia Class A Contractor’s license.
