The opportunity to serve Louisa County and the Lake Anna community over the last seven years as a County Supervisor has been rewarding, and impactful.
I was first motivated to run for office with several critical issues that I felt needed addressed: taxes, emergency services, fiber internet connectivity, maintaining the rural character of our county and economic development.
As I look back over the last seven years, we’ve made tremendous strides in all of these areas.
Louisa County has the lowest tax rate of any county in central Virginia, and we’ve delivered over $6 million in tax relief during my time on the Board.
The need for a Fire and EMS station in the Lake Anna area has been met with the opening last year of Company 8/New Bridge Fire & Rescue. This has directly impacted response times in our community.
Additionally, we’ve funded a new patrol boat for the Louisa County Sheriff Office and a new Rescue Boat for the Louisa County Department of Fire and EMS.
I’ve also worked with our state legislators to secure over $1.5 million in funds to mitigate continuing algae blooms at the lake.
The addition of School Resource Officers in every school in Louisa County is making safety a top priority for our students, teachers and staff.
Our partnership with FireFly Fiber and all of the county’s electric providers will ensure fiber connectivity for every home and business by mid 2025. This will be a major accomplishment for the Lake Anna community (it stimulated growth) as well as the entire County. Louisa will be the first county in central Virginia to accomplish that goal.
The $30 billion plus investment by AWS on only 1,600 acres in Louisa represents the largest private economic development project in the history of the Commonwealth. This type of smart economic development not only increases our tax base but maintains the rural character of our over 514 square mile County.
We just celebrated the opening of one of the largest hydroponic greenhouse operations in the United States that added an additional $80 million investment in the economy of Louisa County.
Recently, Governor Youngkin was in Louisa County to announce that we have been chosen as a potential first site of a small modular reactor, which will help meet the needs of our electric grid for years to come and also a potential $3 billion investment in Louisa County.
I’ve also continued to work with farm organizations and large landowners to encourage the preservation of our rural farm and agricultural land to maintain the vast open spaces that we currently enjoy.
I have a record of leadership and results in Louisa County and believe that we need this type of strong leadership in Richmond; leadership that’s based on positive results. I am a public servant that understands that laws passed in Richmond can have a direct impact on our citizens and our quality of life.
Therefore, I have decided to run in the special election that will be held early next year to represent not only Louisa, but nine other central Virginia counties in Senate District 10.
