Driving by the Cutalong at Lake Anna property along Kentucky Springs Road and Rt. 208 residents will notice quite a bit of construction going on this spring. Much of this is site work and infrastructure work preparing the way for the actual construction of the community.
We caught up with Cutalong’s Chris Baird recently and asked him to offer updates on the current progress on the community that when built-out will include over 750 homes.
“Cutalong is close to completing construction on the initial phases of the central water and wastewater treatment plants and associated subsurface effluent drainfield. The completion of these plants opens the door for residential homesite construction and groundbreaking for our Golf Clubhouse and Stay & Play units,” Baird explained.
The construction he is referring to is what one would see along Kentucky Springs Road, across from New Bridge Landing shopping center.
What excites Baird most is the start of the Cutalong clubhouse and the stay & play golf villas, both of which will commence this summer.
“Cutalong has begun the horizontal construction of the Stay & Play units. We will have six units built in the first phase of construction beginning this year. Vertical construction will begin once the county has given full approval,” Baird told Lake Anna Life & Times.
Since the Cutalong golf course opened for play staff have been utilizing a temporary clubhouse located up near the entrance to the community. Plans call for that to be moved to another location very soon.
“Our temporary clubhouse will be moved to the driving range location as soon as possible in order to make the overall operation and golf experience the best it can be until our main golf clubhouse is completed,” Baird noted.
Up until recently, only members could enjoy the 18-hole Tom Clarke designed, world-class course. Baird shared that there are now opportunities for the public to enjoy Cutalong.
“Cutalong does offer tours of the property and they need to be scheduled in advance. As far as golf, please take this as an invitation to play one of America’s top five best new private golf courses. Over the past three years, Cutalong has operated as one of the most exclusive private clubs in the country. For this season only, Cutalong will be opening its doors for everyone to experience luxury golf at Lake Anna. In lieu of opening our on-site Stay & Play units next season, this is your opportunity to experience everything Cutalong has to offer,” Baird told L&T. “In 2024, Cutalong will once again close its doors and restrict access exclusively to full golf members and resort guests.”
Baird also wanted to announce the hiring of our General Manager, Carl Filipowicz and Director of Golf Course and Grounds, Jimmy Pierson.
“We are very excited to have these two join the team and they will be a huge part of our success moving forward.”
