The developer of a new marina on the lower end of Lake Anna has announced his intentions to develop a 40-acre piece of lake area property into a wedding venue.

Tres Bedell, owner of Bedell Building received approval to construct a marina on 2+ acres next to Pleasants Landing from Louisa County back in December. The timeline for construction of that project is fluid but should start some time this spring.

Bedell said the name of that business will be Sunsetter Marina and it will include a Malibu Boats dealership, sales office, 108-slot boatel, rental pontoons and personal watercraft and wet slips.

“We are waiting on final site plan approval and hope to have our building permits in hand by the end of summer for the marina.”

The other project is located just off Rt. 208 after Rocky Branch Campground/Marina heading toward Fredericksburg.

Bedell told Lake Anna Life & Times he has undergone a pre-approval meeting with his Spotsylvania County Planning Commissioner and Spotsylvania Supervisor Jacob Lane.

“The plan is to create a 5,700 sq. ft. wedding venue and community center that also includes 50-60, 600-1,000 sq. ft. gazebos to augment overnight accommodation options around the lake,” Bedell said.

He also plans on creating two commercial lots along Rt. 208 hopefully to house a “Patient First” type of business and well as a restaurant.

Bedell noted he had another lakefront residential project in the works but wasn’t ready to announce the plan yet.

Bedell operates Bedell Building out of Richmond. He also owns and operates RVA Thermal Heat, a company that specilizes in removal of bedbugs, odor and moisture control for residential dwellings, hotels, apartments, assisted living facilities, hospitals and schools.
