Makin’ Smiles Coffee is an Army veteran, family owned and operated business now selling freshly roasted coffee at Lake Anna Outfitters.
Owner Jonathan Court believes in creating a high quality specialty coffee that reaches customers very shortly after roasting.
“Coffee begins to lose its unique flavors shortly after roasting. It is not noticeable at first, but it is noticeable at about a month or two after the coffee has been roasted. This is why we roast our coffee after you place your order. We want you to enjoy your coffee at it’s peak,” Court told Lake Anna Life &Times.
Court says Makin’ Smiles Coffee is unique is because they are small enough to be able to roast just one bag at a time. In fact, that is all their roaster can roast. Just one bag at a time.
“It’s impossible for almost every other roaster to do what we do for our customers. Their roasters roast 25 pounds to 100 pounds or more at a time and they have to wait for their batch to sell, which takes time. “
Blends available from Makin’ Smiles Coffee include Lake Anna Life Blend, Mexican Coffee, Costa Rican Coffee, Honduran Coffee, Peru Coffee, Lake Anna Monster Blend (Brazilian Coffee), Ethiopian Coffee, a Morning Smiles Blend and several decaf options, plus a Christmas Blend coming this fall.
“I used to not like coffee until I tasted fresh roasted specialty grade coffee. My taste buds sang in wonder that coffee could taste so amazing and complex in flavor, while even having some natural sweetness! I never would have known,” Court told Life & Times.
