On Monday, May 5 the Foundation for Lake Anna Emergency Services presented a check for $60,000 to the Louisa County Board of Supervisors. The funds will be used to purchase an air cascade system for New Bridge Fire & Rescue, Station 8.
A cascade system is a compressed air system that stores breathing air in portable racks and allows for efficient refilling of self-contained breathing apparatus bottles, and this equipment minimizes the potential for exhaustion, heat stress and exposure to hazardous fumes. The system will allow the Station 8 crew to fill their cylinders on site rather than traveling across the county to another station, taking them out of their first due call area for well over an hour.
During the presentation the Foundation expressed their gratitude for the County’s first responders, and in turn the Board and staff thanked the community for the incredible donation.
The $60K donation was raised by the foundation through Lake Anna community fundraisers, business donations and a grant from The Perry Foundation.
The foundation will hold the upcoming New Bridge Fire & Rescue Cutalong Golf Tournament May 20. The annual tournament is a fun way to support a great cause. Upcoming goals for Station 8 include a brush truck, rescue equipment, work benches for the bays and a tanker truck.
