Community leaders come in all forms. There’s the business leader that works to perfect his or her craft or product, there’s the local politician that works to represent, there’s the community activists that supports a cause or takes action to solve a problem and so many more types. Lake Anna is blessed to have many of the above.

Brian Gilbreth is the owner of the popular Lake Anna Taphouse and Cream & Caffeine where locals and visitors alike enjoy many special events throughout the year. The lakeside location is a great meeting place and Gilbreth is a generous host, often donating a portion of his profits to causes like equipping the local firehouse. As a board member of the Citizens For 24/7 Emergency Services at Lake Anna Foundation he’s been an integral part of the effort to raise over $750,000 so far.

Pat & Jane Gallagher are two standard-setting residents of the lake that also serve as board members for the Citizens For 24/7 Emergency Services at Lake Anna Foundation. The husband and wife duo have organized countless fundraisers from luau’s to golf tournaments and presented Louisa County with nearly $1 million of donations.

Jody Korman is one of the founders of Louisa Clean, a 501 c3 dedicated to beautifying Lake Anna area roadways. The work she has done includes 214 clean-ups dating back to 2022 with a total of 1,270 volunteers that performed 2,862 hours of service. In total, over the past four years, Korman and Louisa Clean have picked up over 3,231 bags of roadside litter. Her latest effort gave away over 50 mesh truck bed covers courtesy of an Amazon Community Grant.

Jacob R. Conley, is the current president of the Lake Anna Business Partnership. He has served as Vice President and Chairman of the Membership Committee prior to being elected by the members as president. He oversees the 150-member strong group as well as the annual Lighted Boat Parade and the LABP Car Show. When he’s not running LABP, Conley works for Sonder Wealth Management as a certified financial planner.
Steve McCormick is the 2025 LABP Business Person of the Year with his Luxury Lawns of Lake Anna turfcare business. McCormick is also the Chairman of the LABP Lighted Boat Parade, acting as the coordinator for this much-loved, annual early December event at the lake.
Joyce Brooks can often be found behind the counter at High Point Marina, where she’s worked for the past 30 years. She’s part of the ownership family and a fixture at the lake, working the early shift at the marina, greeting anglers and other visitors with fresh coffee and if you’re lucky, some fishing tips!
Mike Rassawella is the owner of Elk Creek Country Store as well as 33 Quik Mart and Mineral Express Lane, all in the Lake Anna area. His convenience stores serve the community well and Rassawella is always striving to make them better.
Harry Looney is Lake Anna’s most active grandpa, involved in many volunteer leadership efforts. He serves on the Lake Anna Advisory Committee as a Louisa County representative and Environmental & Water Quality Subcommittee Chair. He’s also the long time chair of the Water Quality Committee for Lake Anna Civic Association. Looney has been and continued to be a major participant in hydrilla and phosphorus management at the lake.
Lindsey McClelland is poised to become a major player in Lake Anna real estate having recently acquired her broker license, McClelland has made a name for herself at the lake as an attentive and skilled realtor. As a broker she is going to attract other talented realtors like bees to honey, and we’re sure she’ll be one of our LKA Real Estate Pros for years to come. McClelland was also named Sales Manager for Cutalong at Tributer Resort in 2026, where she’ll help with the sales of the new stay and play villas and cottages.
Diane Eves joined the Citizens for 24/7 Emergency Services for Lake Anna Foundation in 2025 and the group has benefitted immensely from her talents as a marketer and publicist. She and her husband, John, reside in the mid lake region of Spotsylvania County.
Kristie McGhee serves as the Hospitality Services Manager for Reef Management overseeing many duties for Cutalong at Tributer Resort and the Boardwalk Hotel. She’s also the 2026 Chair of the Louisa County Tourism Advisory Committee, so she’s heavily involved in all things tourism related at the lake and a major standard-setter.
Rosie Taormina owns Vito’s at Lake Anna and The Lounge. If that wasn’t enough, the young restauranteur opened The Lion’s Den 1837 last season in the old Tavern on the Rail location. The Lion’s Den features a menu that has been drawing visitors from all over the region, plus a downstairs speakeasy that offers a cozy, pub-like atmosphere for dinner and drinks. Taormina’s hard work is evident from the menu to the staff, atmosphere of the restaurant to the decor.
Duane Adams is a long-time resident of the up lake region of Lake Anna and serves as Chairman of the Louisa County Board of Supervisors. He also operates LKA® Watersports, a rental boat/jetski business at The Boardwalk on Lake Anna. He has been a reliable lake advocate and leader on lake environmental issues.
Jacob Lane is a Spotsylvania County Supervisor representing the Livingston District, one of two lake districts in Spotsylvania County. Lane is a small business owner that served first as a Spotsylvania County Planning Commissioner. His close ties with the Lake Anna Civic Association make him a strong supporter of Lake Anna.
Greg Baker is the current president of the Lake Anna Civic Association and has been for the past five years. He has been an active participant in the efforts to lobby Virginia legislators to allocate funds for phosphorus remediation at the lake as well as advocates for over 1,000 households that belong to the LACA on issues like wake surfing, hydrilla managment, land use around the lake and the annual Lake Anna Fireworks Display.
Matt Custer is a realtor with Real Luxury and the author of the book The Enlightend Seller, which he wrote to help home owners understand the process of selling what is often their greatest asset. Custer serves as treasurer of the LABP and chairs the LABP Scholarship Committee that awards over $6K to Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania Counties annually funded by the sales of the Lake Anna Card and proceeds from the annual LABP Car Show.
Additional recipients of the LABP Business of the Year recognitions include Jeff and Jean Martin, who received the Legacy Recognition for the many years they have served the community as volunteers as well as building homes, boathouses and garages. Jeff has served on the Habitat for Humanity board and now chairs the Fluvanna-Louisa Housing Foundation.
Jason Atkinson received the LABP’s Best New Member award for his amazing involvement with the group in just his first year.
The Richard Binns Community Service award was given to Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.
