Lake Anna residents forever on the search for dining option can put a new business on their lists – Biscuit Batch located on Rt. 208 about 15 minutes from the mid lake region at 9112 Old Battlefield Blvd Unit 112, Spotsylvania,

Jessica Wilkins, 36 is the owner and told Life & Times she began serving her culinary creations from a Biscuit Batch food truck that soon became so popular she knew it was time to look for a more permanent location.

“I figured out there was a need for more delicious biscuits and farm fresh, made from scratch food. I was at a fork in the road to get another food truck or open a brick and mortar and chose the latter path,” the Spotsylvania resident said.

At Biscuit Batch visitors will find a two-part menu – the Biscuit Bliss portion and a Biscuit Less portion, plus a traditional sausage gravy and Virginia ham platter as well as what Wilkins calls the Hot Mess – cornflake crusted French toast and her delicious pancakes.

The most popular order at Biscuit Batch is the biscuits and gravy – delicious buttermilk biscuits smothered in grandma’s black pepper sausage gravy.

Wilkins notes her family matriarchs inspired her the most to realize her dream of Biscuit Batch.

“My mom’s independence, hard work and strong mind has definitely left an imprint on me. My grandma was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a few of my recipes are from her – true Virginia, southern recipes with so much love!”

She also cites her time in the military as helpful.

“I have been a Chef for over 10 years. I have done everything and learned everything I could from my superiors, but I am still learning now that it is my own. I feel like the military has prepared me mentally, but my experiences have prepared me for everything else.”

Wilkins said the Lake Anna area was the perfect fit for her business plan.

“Living here in Lake Anna, I wanted to be close to home. I also felt there was a need for breakfast/brunch/boozy brunch. I felt like the lake and surrounding areas needed something elevated but still down home and comforting. The community has been such a blessing so far and has taken well to the restaurant.”

Wilkin’s Biscuit Batch is open Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 2 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm.
