Visitors to the lake and locals will want to consider a stay at Prospect Hill, once an authentic 18th-century wheat farm, long-since transformed into a premier Charlottesville, Virginia-area bed and breakfast. Prospect Hill is nestled on 40 pastoral acres in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering travelers 12 historic suites and cottages (circa 1699 – 1890) for a relaxing getaway and access to Lake Anna and Charlottesville attractions.
The accommodations vary from farm-house elegant to rustic, but all are packed with character and history, and offer a purely Southern story of folklore and tradition.
Guests can choose from a number of lodging options. Each suite is uniquely furnished with a combination of colonial antiques and amazingly comfortable king and queen beds… all in an idyllic and historic setting. Private baths, romantic gas or electric fireplaces, luxurious robes, plush towels, deep-well water, premium toiletries and squeaky floors simply add to your experience!
Four suites are located on the second floor of the 7,000 square foot Manor House and eight cozy cottages surround it for those looking for a more private experience; some are even pet friendly.
“Our dogs are special to us, as yours are to you. So, we don’t just welcome dogs at Prospect Hill, we embrace them!” notes innkeeper Terenee Mormando.
Well-behaved, house-broken dogs are welcome in four of the inn’s cottages. Though you’ll want to keep your furry friend on a leash, you’ll have 40 acres of gorgeous grounds to explore. If you’d rather, you can take a refreshing swim in the newly refurbished saltwater pool, or enjoy an evening by the fire pit with a glass of wine surrounded by fireflies and starlight.
There’s even a two-mile nature trail that is a morning highlight for many guests and their pets! It’s a short walk (20–30 minutes), yet numerous folks report it is the perfect way to work-up a great breakfast appetite!
The inn offers guests a private dining experience called an Innkeeper’s Dinner. Saturday night guests are welcome to enjoy a five-course “chef’s choice” prix fixe meal in the private dining room. Reservations are added on a first come – first serve basis.
Guests also have the chance to experience a delicious three course, gourmet breakfast each morning.
