As part of the Rappahannock Community Fund program Amazon has awarded Louisa Clean a $2,000 grant to provide mesh coverings for open bed vehicles to secure their trash. The grant funds will also be used to purchase additional bright orange, hi vis Louisa Clean hats for volunteers.
Jody Korman told Life & Times, “The goal is to provide residents with these ‘cover your load’ devices to reduce the amount of trash flying of truck beds and trailers.”
The devices feature both the Louisa Clean and Amazon logos on a heavy duty mesh material for easy attachment to an exterior truck bed/trailer using carabiners.
Louisa Clean volunteers are working with Louisa County on a distribution plan for the load covers.
The group, officially founded in 2024 performs road cleanups throughout the lake region. An annual Big Clean event will be held April 25-26, to clean up Route 208 Courthouse Road from Tractor Supply to Interstate 64. The event will begin at 8:30 am. Hats, bags, grabbers and safety vests will be provided. Contact Jody Korman (804) 502-1128 for more information. Info@louisaclean.org
Plan to meet in the parking lot at Moss Nuckols Elementary School, 2055 Courthouse Road, Louisa.
