After identifying approximately 15 acres of hydrilla in the back of Mitchell Creek and approximately 40 acres in the back of Pigeon Creek that posed a hazard to navigation, the Lake Anna Advisory Committee (LAAC) has initiated its Hydrilla Managment Protocol for 2024.
In early May 100 sterile grass-eating carp were relased into the back of Mitchell Creek. The carp were obtained by DWR permit from Solitude Lake Managment for $2,200.
This summer LAAC plans to have a licensed applicator treat the back of Pigeon Creek with aquatic herbide. Projected cost to treat is $16,800.
Notification of the herbicide treatment date will be accomplished by communication with HOA secretaries in the immediate treatment area, email notification to Dominion Energy, Virginia DWR, Lake Anna Civic Association (LACA), Lake Anna Business Partnership, and the County Administrators of Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania Counties with a request to post it on their websites.
