Mike Kavros, owner of Callie Opie’s Orchard in Lake Anna, has been awarded the prestigious Jim Wordsworth Award for Restaurateur of the Year. Kavros was nominated by the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce.

  This recognition, part of the 2024 Ordinary Awards presented by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA), celebrates the exceptional contributions of individuals like Kavros who have significantly impacted Virginia’s hospitality and tourism industry. 

  The Jim Wordsworth Award recognizes an owner who has made extraordinary contributions to Virginia’s restaurant industry and demonstrated unwavering commitment to excellence in both their business and community. 

  For Mike Kavros, this recognition is a testament to his passion for the industry and the significant impact Callie Opie’s Orchard has made since its inception.

  Kavros’ journey into the restaurant industry has been marked by innovation, resilience, and a deep connection to the community. 

  When Mike and Roxanne Kavros established Callie Opie’s Orchard, they brought with them a vision of creating more than just a restaurant—they aimed to craft an experience rooted in local culture, sustainability, and hospitality establishing a venue for weddings, corporate events, proms and entertainment. 

  Named in honor of Mike’s late aunt, the restaurant and venue has become a cornerstone in Lake Anna, offering fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the Kavros family’s values.

 Under Mike’s leadership, Callie Opie’s has garnered numerous accolades that reflect the restaurant’s commitment to culinary excellence and customer satisfaction. Kavros was recognized as the 2023 Lake Anna Business Person of the Year.

  Beyond the kitchen, Mike has fostered a sense of community through various charitable events and fundraisers, making Callie Opie’s a true gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
