About LKA Life

Welcome to Lake Anna Life.

So how did the Lake Anna Life idea start?  Well, we began 10 years ago with a simple LKA sticker. We printed 1,000 of them and sold them at local retail shops. You might have seen them on cars and trucks, boats and jetskis in your travels. The advent of that little sticker did more for our sense of community than anything else yet attempted. Now trademarked, LKA stands for our growing community and lets others know we are all tied together by a 17-mile long lake in the middle of central Virginia. Be sure and visit our online store (Lake Anna Outfitters) or local LKA Wear dealers to see the full line of gear including stickers, hats and shirts.

The operators of Lake Anna Life are the McCotters; C.C. and Christine. They have lived at Lake Anna for the past 20 years and are raising their family (a daugher and a son) here. They have operated/been associated with Woods & Waters Magazine for the past 16 years and McCotter's Lake Anna Guide Service for the past 18 years. C.C. was a founding member of the Lake Anna Civic Association (no longer active), the Lake Anna Business Partnership (current Board member) and the Concerned Bass Anglers of Virginia (Board member). He also initiated the Fish Strucuture Enhancement Project which has created or enhanced over 15 Fish Structures in Anna over the past eight years. Five years ago C.C. and Christine began LKA Wear. The McCotter's live and work on Anna. They are small business people that know many of the Lake Anna businesses and their owners personally. They also know that tireless and tasteful marketing, promotion and careful stewardship are the keys to keeping the Anna community healthy and desirable.

Lake Anna Life is a not just a website but a philosophy applied to several business platforms. You will notice the Lake Anna Life impression more and more. From clothing and Lake Anna imprint goods, to local business marketing assistance to Lake Anna news coverage and special sponsored events. Lake Anna Life in all forms is intended to function as a reflection of what Lake Anna residents and home owners want to see, a kind of guide to living for full timers and those visiting the area. looking to relocate or vacation.

This first phase website with its photo albums, links, advertisers, blogs and online store is meant to offer Lakers and weekenders a place to gather, exchange ideas, see what's going on and what's to come. It is a service and a tool. It is job we take seriously and also carry out with a sense of humor. You'll  notice immediately the passion and dedication we have for what we do and for our lives here on Anna.

Our community might be small physically, but it is strong with diversity. We are marinas, realtors, developers, country stores, campgrounds, guides, builders, trademen, craftsmen, lawyers, salesmen and women, entreprenuers, artisans, writers and so much more, all tied together by Lake Anna. Lake Anna Life will be a valuable tool for each type of person and business.

On this site we promise you won't find photos representing the lake not taken here. Everything you see, unless credited otherwise, is homegrown around the lake. Our writers, bloggers and photographers are all Lakers, and we invite you to contribute your work as well. The Anna area has grown in the past 37 years to the point of a community and Lake Anna Life is going to try and bring us all together. It will work as long you are part of the production.

While you are here, take a few moments to visit all our website pages and participate if you are so inclined. We need writers, photographers, reporters, bloggers and advertising partners. We all know what a powerful tool the internet can be and Lake Anna Life is positioned to be the Lake Anna portal. Why not get involved at the ground level? You can contact us at 540.894.3540 or by emailing us at mcfish@ns.gemlink.com .

Regardless whether you are a full time Laker, weekender, visitor, business person/owner, tradesman or other, we invite you to be a part of the Lake Anna Life.
